Rigid, hard, tough, plastics luggage - made of thin deep-drawn polystyrene, polypropylene or ABS shells lined with glass-fibre-reinforced polyurethane foam

Plastics rigid component of a piece of luggage e.g. a suitcase, comprises a relatively thin-walled, deep-drawn, thermoplastics shell lined with an integrally moulded reinforced plastics foam shell. The thermoplastics (outer) shell comprises hard, tough, impact- and crack-resistant, polystyrene, ABS, polypropylene or the like. The plastics foam lining is made of a polyurethane. The reinforcement is glass-fibres or a mesh-like fleece. The foam lining has strengthening thickened zones near corners or where the sidewalls pass into the bottom. It is also suitably stiffened with the aid of integral ribs.
