The turnbuckle is of closed construction,having a nut for the end of bolt and a locking device consisting of a pin working in a hole in the cone end of the bolt and fitting in an opening in the nut after the bolt has been screwed home. The cone end (3) of the bolt (2') has an annular groove (5), while in the nut is an opening (4, 4') which can be sealed off. Balls (8) fit in the annular space between the groove and the internal wall (6) of the nut, forming a ball-bearing. Pins, pressed-in caps or plastic stoppers can be used to seal off the openings.
