A sliding arrangement for slidably mounting a caliper (23) on a carrier (11) in a disc brake is provided wherein the caliper has pins (31, 32) having slide portions (31a, 32a) slidably received by the respective bores (17, 18) of the carrier; the pins (31, 32) also have threaded portions (31c, 32c) and head portions (31b, 32b), the threaded portion of each pin being disposed between the slide portion and the head portion, and a nut (33, 34) threadedly engages with the respective threaded portion (31c, 32c) to interpose support portions (29, 30) of the caliper (23) between the head portion (31b or 32b) and the nut (33 or 34). The arrangement permits each supporting portion (29, 30) of the caliper to stay on the corresponding pin even if the pin becomes loose, thus providing a safeguard against accidental disengagement of the caliper from the carrier. Sliding portion (31a) of the pin (31) in the leading portion (13) of the carrier (11) is surrounded by a rubber backing (39). <IMAGE> |
