The mechanism which continuously coils strip material, particularly sheet foil, has a driving roller against which the periphery of the coiled material bears, this material turning freely and moving radially. When changing coils over, the full one (7) bears against the roller (10), the strip (28) passing part-way round the periphery of the latter, the empty one (24) being brought to bear against the roller where it does so. Before this happens a lifting bar or roller (20) parallel to the driving roller, is inserted between the latter and the strip, so as to move it clear for part of the periphery. The part so lifted is parted, off and the leading edge of the strip engaged by the empty spool. |
