Self-sealing capacitor for AC voltages - has plastics foils whose metallisation thickness increases from one edge to other

The self-sealing capacitor consists of wound layers of metallised plastics foils with edges free of metal. Metallisation consists of an alloy of aluminum with one or more metals whose oxides resistivity is smaller than 109Ohm. cm. The metallisations (3, 4) have a variable thickness in the transversal direction of the foils (1, 2) and is thinnest at the edges (5, 6) gradually increasing to the other foil edges. The foils (1, 2) are so wound together, that the metallisation free edges (5, 6) are at different ends of the capacitor.
