Splined grooves machined into blind bores, are machined for e.g. into drilling machine spindles with high accuracy. The workpiece is placed on a centering device and on the working table. The cutting tool is inserted from below into the bore. The cutting tool is reciprocated together with the infeed. Esp. heavy supply of cutting oil is ensured while the cutting tool is situated below the working table in the region of the lower dead centre.
