The bed maker is operated by an electric motor which is switched on and off by a program timer. When required, the motor moves cog wheels with small spools which wind up individual wire cords which then operate the individual functions of the arms and rails. The timer can be set to make the bed automatically thus being of great advantage to hospitals, guest houses etc.
