The machine applies metered quantities of free-flowing or liquid preparation for plant or bulb treatment, having a storage vessel for the preparation. It has faces (5, 6) of material easily absorbing fluid, which is delivered to the bulbs rubbing against it, the material being typically spongy etc. These faces are connected to the vessel via metering devices. The faces can run at least part-way in the travel direction and also at right angles to it, and can be offset from each other, also extending to different levels.
