The circuit has a measurement transforming delivering a test voltage, a function of the reactive power, which controls a pulse counter through pulse generators. Its output signals are applied through coding stages to switches which connect capacitors of specified capacitance. The transformers is followed by an evaluation circuit which generates signals corresponding to the reactive power amount and sign. The sign signal is applied to a control circuit reversing the pulse counter counting direction. The reactive power amount signal is applied to a pulse generator supplying clock pulses to the pulse counter.
