The mower is provided with a grass-ejection orifice in the housing (2). Above the cutter bar (10) provided with air-deflecting elements (36), a disc-shaped structure (17) is arranged on the rotary shaft (6). This structure (17) is designed, on its upper side facing the housing bottom (2), as a pure surface of revolution. The cutter bar (10) has a combined cutting and ventilating part (22) which, as a result of its profiling, acts as an axial-blower stage. The cutter bar is twisted. Its angle of incidence decreases from the inside outwards, preferably from 20-25 DEG to 8-15 DEG on the circumference. The tangential run of the bar profiles is continuous. The cutter bar (10) is transferred radially from the inside outwards out of the horizontal into a lower horizontal position by means of a bend (20), at least part of which has a cutting edge (21). The passage between the cutter bar (10) and housing (2) is smaller, preferably substantially smaller than that between the structure (17) and the housing (2). The pure surface of revolution of the structure (17) is smooth, for example polished. This mower, for the same cutting capacity, works with less noise. <IMAGE>
