Barrel pad used as shock absorber when barrels are unloaded from brewery bans is homogeneous moulding consisting of rubber granules bonded together with a polyurethane binder. The superficial zone os the pad is comprised of finer rubber granules compated with those of its core. alternatively, the superficial zone may have a greater proportion of finer granules and/or of binder. The pad has a vaguely plane-concave cross-section o.e. its shorter sides have a rim protruding over its general top plane. It may have recesses serving as handleles for gripping, and may be reinforced with wire (mesh) or a textile inlay.
