PURPOSE:To make an initial flaw small and reduce a cutting irregularity quantity, and to prevent a scrap from scattering by clamping the optical fiber on both sides centering on a position where the flaw is made, making the initial flaw in the surface with a flawing blade at right angles, and processing the cutting chips by sticking an adhesive tape. CONSTITUTION:The optical fiber B is clamped by a clamper 10 on both sides centering on the position where the surface of the optical fiber B is flawed,and then the cutting blade 6 is moved at right angles to the optical fiber B to flaw the surface of the optical fiber. Then a member 12 which has positive curvature atop is pressed from the opposite side of the flaw about the optical axis of the optical fiber B to bent and cut the optical fiber B, and the adhesive tape 16 is used to process the scrap fiber side to be disposed after the cutting. Consequently, the initial flaw is small, the cutting irregularity quantity is small, and the scrap is prevented from scattering. |
