This process results in a lower consumption of alkali sulfide and H2SO4 compared with the prior methods. An alk. soln. contg. W and Mo was adjusted to pH 8.5 with H2SO4 and then an NaHS soln. was added to a reactor sysem in a continuous process in which excess H2S contained in the gases from the reaction was recycled for absorption by the Mo- and W- contg. alk. soln. The Mo was pptd. as MoS3 and the tungstate soln. contains 1-3 ppm MoO3.
