Polyamide block copolymer with mol. wt. 5,000-100,000 and improved hydrophilicity contained blocks of melt-spinnable polyamides and poly(oxa-amide) (I, R1,R2,R3 = H, C1-10 alkyl, C3-10 isoalkyl; R4 = C1-10 alkylene, C3-10 iso alkylene ; Y = 2-100, Z = 2-150). Thus, adipic acid and 4-oxahep-tamethylenediamine were polycondensed, melt mixed with nylon 6 to give a block polymer which was melt spun into fibers with phys. properties equiv. to those of nylon 6 and moisture absorption nearly equal to that of cotton.
