Novel phenyl alkynyl ethers of the formula in which R1 denotes hydrogen, C1-C4-alkyl, halogen, C1-C4-alkoxy, C3-C4-alkenyloxy, C3-C5-alkynyloxy, trifluoromethyl, nitro or cyano; R2 denotes hydrogen, C1-C4-alkyl, halogen, C1-C4-alkoxy, trifluoromethyl, nitro or, together with R1, denotes methylenedioxy; R3 denotes hydrogen, C1-C4-alkyl or halogen; R4 denotes hydrogen or C1-C4-alkyl; R5 denotes hydrogen or C1-C4-alkyl; R6 denotes hydrogen, C1-C4-alkyl or, together with R5, denotes the -(-CH2-)3- or -(CH2-)4- group and n denotes one of the numbers 1, 2 or 3; method for the preparation of these compounds and compositions containing them for use as pesticides, in particular for combating insects infesting plants and animals. The novel compounds have ovicidal and ovolarvicidal activities; in addition they show synergistic activity with known insecticides.
