An electrostatic separating appts. was formed by the separator tank of which one side wall was designed to be a double wall structure. The upper edge of the inner side-wall was devised to be above the predetermined intended level of the solvent layer, while the upper edge of the outer side-wall to be above the upper edge of the inner side-wall. Foreign bodies in the layer above the solvent layer are to flow into a pocket after running over the upper edge of the inner side-wall and clarified water onto the exterior followed by an overflow from the upper edge of the outer wall.
