Fence-wire supports for electric meadow fences are manufactured from a single round metal profile (1) without welding points. The round metal profiles are formed at one end into a foothold (4). That part of the support (1) projecting out of the ground is sheathed with plastic and thus water-repellent and electrically non-conductive. On this insulating tubular sheathing (5) there are fitted one or more torsion-spring-like clamping members (8) which consist of stainless steel wire and are intended to receive the meadow fence wire. The two wire ends (10) of the clamping members are formed as finger grips and, in a compressed state, may be pushed up and down the plastic tube (5) as required in order thus to define the level of the fence wire. <IMAGE>
