An assembly of a bobbin and a flyer free to rotate in bearings forms the basis of a home industry spinning machine. The device can be driven by domestic appts., such as a hand mixer which can be fitted to the frame. The frame is formed by a foot piece with two uprights between which the assembly of the flyer and the bobbin is positioned. At their top ends the uprights are connected by a crosspiece, and pref. one of the columns is hinged to the foot or to the crosspiece of the frame. The one column or upright can thus be tilted away from the frame so that the bobbin can be taken out and replaced. The appts. requires very little skill, is cheap to mfr. is small in dimensions and is thus easy to store.
