The collector has a large absorbing surface(6) on which there is a bank of tubes(5). The tubes run between an upper header(2) and a lower header(3) and are in firm contact with the absorbing surface. A horizontal cylindrical water reservoir(9) is fixed at the top of the collector. It is surrounded by a rectangular casing(8) with insulation between them. There is a connection(10) from the upper header(2) at one end of the cylinder which terminates at high level in the cylinder a connection(11) from the lower header which terminates at low level at the other end of the cylinder.
