<p>Lubricating oils with improved anti-friction properties contain (a) 0.1-1.5 (pref. 1.0) wt. % of a t-alkyl primary amine salt of a dialkyl dithiophosphate and (b) 0.1-5.0 (pref. 0.5-1.5) wt. % of a transition-metal dialkyl dithiophosphate, the transition metal having an oxide with a Mo-hs hardness of >=3. Component (a) is pref. derived from one or more 1-30C (esp. 12-14C) t-alkyl primary amines (e.g. "Primene 81R") and a di(1-12C alkyl), esp. di-n-propyl, dithiophosphate. Component (b) is pref. a Zn di (1-18C alkyl) dithiophosphate. The compsns. reduce friction and wear to a greater extent than oils contg. component (b) alone.</p> |
