<p>A ball joint, suitable for the actuation linkage of an automobile gear box, consists of a rod with a ball end fitting in a socket of plastic. The socket consists of two semi-cylindrical blocks with internal hemi-spherical recesses. The blocks are fitted into a cylindrical housing of sheet metal and retained on one side by means of a split spring ring which abuts againts a slip. The blocks are retained at the opposite end by spinning over the edge of the housing at an angle of 45 deg.</p> |
