<p>The instrument is for correcting misalignment of the maxillae. It has two moulded synthetic resin sections, one for the palate and one for the mandible, connected by a telescopic rod. The rod articulates with a horizontal rod (8) at each end mounted in the resin. The rod is fitting into a steel annular which is fastened to the end of the main shaft by a U-shaped tongue (b). The mandibular fastening has an additional mounting to enable the lower rod to slide sideways permitting lateral expansion.</p> |
