The device comprises two coaxial reservoirs (1, 2). The external reservoir (1) is flexible, for example made of rubber surrounded by a sealing material. The internal reservoir (2), which is rigid, contains a gas such as nitrogen compressed to 3-4 kg/cm<2>. A cylindrical hole (8) allows a control liquid to pass through from outside towards a highly hydrosoluble block (6). The block (6) bears on a face of the diaphragm (4), the other face of the diaphragm being supported on a strut (5) bearing on a calibrated wall portion (10) of the internal reservoir (2). When the liquid reaches the block (6) and dissolves it, the calibrated wall portion (10) breaks under the effect of the internal pressure. The gas escapes and penetrates through channels (9) into the flexible reservoir (1) and expands it. The device is in particular intended to constitute a catamenial tampon which ensures, subsequent to its expansion, longer term leaktightness while facilitating introduction. <IMAGE> |
