Electric water-heater with submerged electrodes

The water-heater has submerged electrodes with a three-phase power supply and a triangular connection which consists of three pairs of fixed electrodes connected to the current source and three pairs of mobile electrodes connected only to each other. The fixed and mobile electrodes are plane and are mounted respectively on plane parallel supports each consisting of an insulating plate with three cut-away sections (36, 37, 38) housing three metal plates; the electrodes are covered with masks (39) with six cut-away sections revealing six electrodes (41 to 46) connected to each other in pairs. The supports for mobile electrodes are mounted on a central shaft (25) passing freely through the supports for fixed electrodes and allowing the relative position of the fixed and mobile electrodes to be varied in order to alter the strength of the current heating the water. The temperature for water can thus be regulated solely by rotating the supports for mobile electrodes. By altering the number of stacked supports for fixed and mobile electrodes, water-heaters of different power ratings can easily be produced. <IMAGE>
