The static inverter has four thyristors each shunted by an antiparallel diode and connected into a bridge. One diagonal of the bridge contains the dc input supply shunted by a capacitor. The other diagonal of the bridge contains a resonant circuit. The thyristors are controlled by an oscillator whose frequency is variable but is always equal to or less than two thirds of the inverter's frequency. The oscillator's frequency is locked to the frequency of the circuit being supplied from the inverter.
