Dredging vessel with mud collection duct - has flexible connection to vessel side for mud pick-up and surplus water return

The dredger comprises a floating vessel (1) with a side tube (9) leading down at an inclined angle and resting on the bed of the canal, river etc. The mud collection tube (9) is fitted ahead of the water return tube (12). The two tubes are connected by a hinged lever arm so that they may be pulled upwards by a winch operated hoist (15, 16, 17). The water return tube is attached to the side of the vessel by a spherical seated joint and has a flexible metal ring seal. The dredging vessel contains a tank into which the mud from the river bed is deposited and has a water collection tube from the top of this tank to remove the surplus.
