Counterflow heat and mass exchange appts. - with gas flow split into several side streams contacting liquid flow

A distribution system for heat and mass exchange columns, based on the counterflow principle, has been worked out for two components one of which is a gas and the other a liquid. The gas flow is subdivided into (three) side streams each of which is brought into contact with the liquid in its turn. The emerging gas side streams are then joined up again. This removes the necessity for extreme precision in the ratio of the gas and liquid flows. The greater possible aggregate liquid/gas ratios and gas velocities in the reaction zones lead to smaller overall dimensions of the appts.
