The apparatus and method for storing a telephone number from a person on the other end of the line without writing tools on line consists of a telephone loop control unit(10) for calling a person on the other end of the line, a telephone loop detecting unit(20) determining on/off-state of the loop control unit, a control unit(30) causing a control signal for storing the number when a signal is caused by the detecting unit, a dial unit(40) generating a signal for storing the number and a signal corresponding the number, a display driving unit(50) causing a driving signal for displaying the number when the number is entered from the telelphone to the control unit, a displaying unit(60) displaying the number when the driving signal is detected, a tone generation and a speaker unit(70, 80) informing user of completing preparation for storing the number, and a storing unit(90) preserving the number from being erased although the telephone turns off.
