Prodn. of vehicle wheel rim - by spinning or deep drawing starting from length of extruded seamless aluminium tube

In the process for producing wheel rims (3) a cylindrical workpiece is shaped by spinning (5) or deep-drawing. The workpiece used is an extruded seamless length of tube (1) in aluminium or similar material. The spinning or deep-drawing operation may be carried out simultaneously from the two ends. After shaping, the wheel rim may be planed to the correct width and rounded. The tyre seating surface may be machined to size.
