PURPOSE: To remove a desired chemical without the breakage of the properties of the desired chemical by bringing a biological material containing a lipid- soluble chemical into contact with a specific organic alcohol and/or a halogenated hydrocarbon. CONSTITUTION: A biological material containing exogenous or endogenous lipid-soluble chemical, for example, a virus-inactivating solvent, a cleansing agent, phorbol ester or pyrogen (for example, whole blood plasma, serum, cryogenically removed plasma, cryogenic precipitation is brought into contact with an organic alcohol whose solubility is lower than 0.6% at the use temperature and/or a halogenated hydrocarbon bearing more than 1 kind of halogen (suitably containing ether linkage). The resultant mixture is stirred to separated into the layer of the biological material and the layer of the solvent thereby removing the above-stated chemical. As an alcohol, are cited hexanol, heptanol or undecanol and the like, while isofluorane, 1,2,2-trifluorotrichloroethane and the like are cited as a halogenated hydrocarbon. |
