FIELD: infrared communication engineering. SUBSTANCE: device has terminal unit, two low-frequency amplifiers, telephone exchange interface unit, as well series-connected infrared detector, matching unit, mixer, frequency-modulated signal processing system, mode-of-operation selecting unit whose output is connected to control input of telephone exchange interface unit, and series-connected master oscillator with modulator, buffer stage, infrared emitter. Input of master oscillator with modulator is connected to output of telephone exchange interface unit. Mixer second input is connected to heterodyne output and input of heterodyne is connected to heterodyne frequency control output of telephone exchange interface unit. Device also has two converging lenses; infrared detector is placed on optical axis in focus of one of lenses; infrared emitter is located on optical axis in focus of other converging lens. EFFECT: enlarged number of subscribers connected to telephone exchange; improved noise immunity and communication distance; enlarged functional capabilities of device. 1 dwgg
