The first subscriber (1) receives regular communications from the server-based service (5) used to link the two subscribers (1, 2), and this service is also used to instruct the server (3) to keep the link open until a decoupling signal is received from either subscriber, or one of the two subscribers closes down or deactivates the computer program (4) used to access the service, or for so long as the requests are received. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - The link is provided via a network (AB) comprising a data network (A) alone or in combination with a telecommunications network (B), and a server provided in this network. The first subscriber accesses the data network via his computer terminal (11) in order to be able to utilise a service offered by the server and the program for accessing the data network is then activated in order to allow the subscriber to link up with the second subscriber via the service on the server and the data network. All telephone call charges are then allocated to somewhere other than the two subscribers, e.g. the first server. |
