The float is formed from a body (10), which is generally cylindrical, and which supports a pin (4). The body of the float is formed from the hollow shaft (1) of the feather of a bird, with the open end closed by means of a stopper (5), which is made of waterproof material, such as silicone. The pin penetrates into part of the body, through the closed pointed end (11) of the shaft of the feather A collar (14) is fitted into the body of the float and is arranged to hold the upper end of the pin in a co-axial position relative to the body of the float. The collar is formed from part of the solid shaft (2) of the feather.
