<p>Near the end of the roll is a groove (3) adjacent to the end section (4) of the roll; and section (4) possesses two parallel flat surface which prevent the roll from rotating inside the coupling sleeve in which end (4) is inserted; and the sleeve is used to drive the roll. A hinged collar is located in groove (3), and is used together with two threaded rings to locate a roller bearing in which the roll is rotated. In the end surface of the sleeve adjacent to groove (3) are two rectangular slots which are diametrically opposite each other; and a block is welded in each slot. Each block has a retaining bolt and nut for a U-shaped strap; and the base of the strap fits in groove (3) to anchor the sleeve on the end (4) of the roll. A conventional method of preventing the axial movement of the sleeve w.r.t. the roll uses a bolt 51 mm dia.; but his bolt can shear after a very short time due to the stresses involved. The invention provides a much better method of anchoring the sleeve axially w.r.t. the roll.</p> |
