The radial play in a roller bearing is eliminated by using a flexible metallic outer race (6) which is enclosed in a thick ring (2) of plastic material with little or no eleasticity. This plastics ring has a number of cavities which are separated from the bore by a relatively thin wall. These cavities produce a sufficient degree of elasticity in the ring to take up all the radial clearance in the bearing. The use of plastic rings results in a bearing which is cheaper than those which use elastomeric rings. |
