In a flexible polyurethane foam of resiliency > 50%, modulus of >= 2.3 and density of 5 lbs/ft3, the improvement comprises the presence of a crosslinker primarily consisting of 5-100% of an >= 4C vicinal hydroxylamine used in conjunction with 0-95% of an auxiliary cross linker component. The foam is derived from (A)(i) 50-100 wt. % of a polyether triol of av. OH equiv. wt. 900-2500 end capped with >= 1 mole of ethylene oxide per OH gp. to provide primary OH gps. and (ii) 0-50 wt. % of a diol and/or triol having an OH equiv. wt. of 900-2500, (B) polyisocyanate consisting of (i) 50-100 wt. % of 2, 4- or 2, 6-TDI, and/or their NCO contg. prepolymers and (ii) 0-50 wt. % of a polyisocyanate of av. NCO functionality of >= 2, (c) 1.0-5 pbw of water per 100 pbw of (A), (D) 0-20 pts. of a low boiling auxiliary blowing agent per 100 pbw of (A), (E) 0.6-10 pbw per 100 pbw (A) of the above crosslinker, (F) 0.5-4 pbw per 100 pbw (A) of a catalyst and (G) 0.005-2.5 pbw per 100 pbw (A) of a silicone oil cell control agent. (A), (B), (C) and (E) are present to provide an NCO:active H ratio of 0.8-1.3:1.0. The crosslinkers are used in place of 4, 4'-methylenebis (2-chloroaniline) and are non-carunogenic.
|
