Mixts. of known cpds. of naphthalimide series, of formula: (in which R is opt. substd. alkyl, cycloalkyl, aralkyl or heteroalkyl; R1 is alkyl opt. substd. with OH, alkoxy, polyalkoxy or hydroxy-polyalkoxy; n is 0 or 1; and T is H, Cl, Br, or OR1) contg. at least one cpd. with n = 1, are useful as optical brighteners, e.g. on polyamides, cellulose esters, acrylonitrile polymers or esp. polyesters. Mixts. are much more effective than the individual cpds. and bath exhaustion is usually almost quantitative. |
