Thermally insulating lining for gas turbine housings - where aluminous lining is bonded to sheet metal housing via intermediate layer and temp. resistant adhesive

The metal walls of the housing are coated with an elastic, intermediate layer resisting elevated temps., and then with an insulation layer withstanding high temps., where layer is e.g. alumina plug silica. Layer (2) is e.g. a foamed asbestos material and is pref. directly bonded to both walls and layer (3) via a temp. resistant adhesive. The lining is designed to retain its insulting properties esp. when used on thin sheet metal parts. pref. layer is porous, and made of asbestos foam or basalt wool; and resists temps. up to 550 degrees C., whereas layer (3) contains 95% alumina and 5% SiO2. The layers (2,3) remain on the metal despite thermal stresses and vibration.
