The house or other residential building is made up from large prefabricated steel sections, on the principles used in shipbuilding. Units can be constructed on shipbuilding wharves. Cellars or foundations can be built at the same time as the dwelling space, using conventional building methods, the dwelling area being made nearby or on a wharf, and then lowered in sections or as a complete unit, by crane, and anchored to the foundations. This enables shipbuilding facilities to be used, at low cost, and industrialised building possibilities to be extended.
