The invention relates to a process for the preparation of synthesis gas, where the sensible heat from the gaseous mixture prepared by the partial oxidation 1 of a fuel is used in a first heat exchanger zone 16 in order to raise the temperature of the heat exchange medium, which is employed as a working medium in a power generation plant such as a turbine 100, an electricity generator 101 or a gas compressor 98,42.
