<p>PURPOSE:Alkali metal sulfide and one or more of metal compounds of Cr, Mn, Co, Fe, Ni, and Cu are included in an oxygen trapping compound which is inexpensive and clean, and easy to control its evaporating rate and qunatity. CONSTITUTION:As alkali metal sulfide called as (a) component here, sulfides or its hydrates of Li, Na, K, Rb, and Ce, particulary Na2S.9H2O and Na2S.5H2O are effective. A single (a) component is relatively stable, not easily absorbing oxygen at room temperature when exposed to oxygen atomosphere. Adding one or more of metal oxides hydroxides, and other salts of component (b) such as Cr, Mn, Co, Fe, Ni, and Cu provides the composition with an ability for easy oxygen absorption at room temperature. Relatively large ratio of (b) to (a) component increases evaporating rate, but too much of (b) decreases oxygen absorption per unit weight.</p> |
