摘要 PURPOSE:Fine particles of glass prepared by the oxidation of gases of reduced raw material of glass are melt collected in molten glass, thus preventing the stain caused by the open air, lowering the transmission loss, increasing the rate of the glass synthesis reactions and the collecting yield. CONSTITUTION:Gases of raw materials of glass supplied from inlet 21 react, while they, in the form of bubbles 24, ascend in molten glass 25 whose viscosity is lowered by heating with high-frequency induction coil heater 23, to form fine powders of glass, which immediately dissolve into molten glass 25. The resulting molten glass is provided in the inner pot 22 of the double-layered crucible as the core glass and spun from nozzle 29 along with clad material 27 in the outside pot 28. Thus, the reaction rate of glass synthesis is raised to the level of several grams per minute, the fine particles of glass can be captured in high yield, thereby permitting the mass production of optical fibers with reduced optical loss.
