The silicon controlled rectifier (SCR) d.c. interrupter includes any optional number of identical, self-contained parallel phases each comprising the series connection of a silicon controlled rectifier and a diode. Additionally, there is the same number of identical, self-contained resonant arms arranged in star. Each arm comprises the series connection of a capacitor and the reactor. The star vertices of the resonant arms are connected between the cathodes of the silicon controlled rectifiers and the anodes of the diodes, whereas the star neutral is connected to either terminal of the d.c. power source. Because of the star connected resonant arms the interrupter design is simplified yet the interrupter has qualities such as on energy stored and good dynamic characteristics. |
