The one-piece packing box blank is of cardboard or similar material, having a rectangular bottom enclosed by folding grooves joining it into pairs of opposite side and end walls. The sides have at each end lips folding vertically downwards and inwards, and at the top edges of the end walls are flaps folded downwards and inwards over the lips and locked in place. Each lip (7) on a side (3) has an oblique folding groove (8) emanating from the corner of the bottom (1) and at 45 deg. to the fold line (6) by which it is joined to the side. When the box is in the flat condition the sides lie folded against the top of the bottom and their lips against the end walls (5). The lips are glued or otherwise secured to the inside of the end walls on the side of the oblique grooves away from the bottom.
