A binding unit (1) is fastened to the ski and contains a piston (6) stressed by a spring (7). The body ends in a cover in which is accommodated a screw (21) on which are mounted two independent wings (15, 16) for the lateral holding of the foot and an intermediate bearing piece (51) for the longitudinal holding. The piston (6) bears on the wings and stresses them in the closed position. The wings abut at (57) and (56) against the bearing piece (51) and give rise to the automatic return of the latter into a centred position on the ski after a release. This binding applies particularly to front safety stops.
