<p>PURPOSE:To obtain the title resin solution usable as wet strength improvers of paper, having good stability with a high concentration, by reacting a polyamide- polyamine, prepared from condensation of an aliphatic dicarboxylic acid and a polyalkylene-polyamine, with epichlorohydrin. CONSTITUTION:An aliphatic dicarboxylic acid (A) is reacted with a polyalkylene- polyamine (B) at a molar ratio of (A) to (B) of 1:1.0-1.2 to give a viscosity of a 50% aqueous solution of the resulting polyamide-polyamine (P) of 400-1000 cps at 25 deg.C. Epichlorohydrin in a molar amount of 1.6-1.7 times that of the secondary amino group in (P) is reacted with (P) in a 15-50 wt.% aqueous solution to give a viscosity of a 15% aqueous solution of 30-150 cps at 25 deg.C, and the reaction mixture is diluted with water to make the solid content in the reaction product 15-30%. The resulting aqueous solution is adjusted to pH 3-5 at 25 deg.C.</p> |
