摘要 PURPOSE:To obviate dependency of distributing ratios on the mode being propagated in an optical fiber even for the case of distributing ratios other than 3dB distribution by the simple constitution of forming the section of refraction index distribution type lenses in sector form. CONSTITUTION:Light out from an optical fiber 1 is collimated by a pi/2 length square refractive index distribution type lens 4 and is led to the junction faces of the pi/2 length refractive index distribution type lenses 9, 10 whose sections are of sector form and are mutually complementary, whereby a light beam 8 is divided to the two sector shapes passing the center. These are then propagated to the respective lenses 9, 10. Disposition of the collimated light 8 in such a manner that the vertex of the sector forms of the lenses 9, 10 passes the central axis 4c enables the light power to be distributed and coupled in optical fibers 2, 3 at an arbitrary distributing ratio corresponding to the angle of the two sector forms without depending upon the power distribution of the mode of the light being propagating in the optical fiber 1.
