The pincers are used in an automobile body repair workshop, partic. in the removal of spot welded sheet metal panels, having complementary active jaw (5, 6) faces for the application of a grip without a shearing action. One jaw may come to a relatively acute symmetrical and rounded (8a) chisel edge (8) with the counter jaw incorporating an obtuse 'V' sectioned face (7a, 7b). Alternatively, the acutely angled jaw face may be assymetric (8b) or the two faces may have reciprocal round angled rebates (13, 14, 10, 11). A further variation may use a counter jaw which is concave for half its length and chisel edged for the remainder.
