The present application discloses means for storing information within a magnetically coded tag, which involves utilising a plurality of magnetically detectable elements (L1,.., L5), (2a,.., 2e), each demonstrating or capable of demonstrating magnetic anisotropy. The information is encoded within the tag such that the relative orientations of the easy axes of the elements relates to the information to be stored.
