A counter on a cycle indicates instantaneous speed and distance travelled. It is driven from a toothed wheel mounted on the wheel hub. A cycle wheel hub (1) contains the brake drum covered by two cheeks (2) and rotates about an axle (3) with threaded ends. A conical cover (4) has an axial orifice (51) in which an annular piece (6) is locked to a wheel (7) with toothed exterior (71). This wheel engages an endless screw (8) tangential to the wheel. The screw is coupled to the counter by a cable.
